Campus Terminal H Munich

Campus Terminal H Munich

We have been asked by Powerhouse Company, to make the landscape design for the Terminal H campus in Munich. The offices on the campus will be re-designed by Powerhouse. Ambition was to transform Terminal H into a sustainable and human office campus. With integrated sports into the landscape we create a healthy work environment. The concept is based on three subjects: Creating a campus, facilitate work and smart maintenance.

CREATING A CAMPUS

To create a nice environment to work, it does not only contain a great workspace inside your own office. Terminal H should become the place to work also outdoor and meet other people. To create a good functioning campus, we made ‘the loop’, which connect all the buildings, making an easy accessibility and connection on all sides of the campus. A good north-south and east-west connection. Bringing people together in the main centre and generating “happenings”. Work is also about connecting people, socialising, making them happy and healthy. To create a campus it is important to create shared space and enhancing the feeling of being part of the bigger team. The goal of Terminal H campus is a green and sustainable identity, with happy and healthy employees.

FACILITATE WORK

Work is more than just sitting in the office. Terminal H campus is giving different work atmospheres and environments such as outdoor activities, which stimulates to get to know your colleagues. Outdoor meeting points for fresh air, working and meeting on inspiring enviornment with sunshine and greenery. These activities and meeting points are concentrated towards the centre of the campus.

SMART MAINTENANCE

To make the transformation of the landscape it is important to be smarter in the maintenance, but create a better ecological landscape. For nature, climate and people. We designed wild flower fields for low maintenance and biodiversity. Extending the blossoming period throughout the year by using more diverse planting. Let the nature grow to it’s full potential! High planting zones around outdoor meeting points for enclosure and calm working places. Rich, natural planting enables creating cosiness of the sitting areas, nevertheless towards the centre we kept clear view lines and openness in the campus.

CENTRAL HEART

The existing campus structure we tend to respect, with keeping as much trees as possible. Only to open up the campus and create a visual relation between the buildings we cut some trees. North and south parts of the campus were in existing situation divided by big alley from east to west. To connect the two worlds we created direct connection by cutting trees and making a big terrace as central meeting point as heart of the campus.

HEALTHY PLACE

To integrate sport fields, such as basket ball hoop, small soccer/ panna-field and table tennis, employees are triggered to play, move and work-out. This will stimulate to move and be healthy. Also for the mindset after a long meeting it is good to move and release energy. Work hard! Play hard!
